Industrialisation: Nasarawa looks to Poland for training of manpower in agric, mining, sciences

Nasarawa State government has expressed interest to partner with the Polish Government in the areas of manpower development in science, agriculture, and mining to meet the industrial needs of the state.

Already, the State Government says, it is sending some of its indigenous scientists, engineers, and technicians for training in Poland towards meeting the expected demands of such professionals when its industrialization policy comes into full swing.

Nasarawa State governor, Abdullahi Sule, made this known when he hosted the Polish Ambassador to Nigeria, Joanna Tamawska, at the Government House in Lafia

Sule said, because the state was in dire need of scientists, engineers, and technicians to man the industries coming into the state, there is an urgent need to work closely with Poland towards ensuring that citizens of the state, are trained in these much desired technical areas.

“With Poland excelling in the areas of science, mining, and agriculture, Nasarawa is interested in working with Poland, especially in the areas of science, agriculture, and mining.

“This has become even more imperative, considering that the state is about to organize an event to attract investors in the area of oil and gas, having already met with officials of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), regarding the Akwa-Ibom-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline.

“Those investors are going to assist when it comes to the industrialization of our state. By the time we have those industries, we need scientists, technicians, and engineers, to work in those areas,” he stated.

Commenting on agriculture, the governor recalled his advice to President Muhammadu Buhari, while being inaugurated as a member of the National Steering Committee on the Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy, that agriculture, remains the surest way to lift 100m Nigerians out of poverty.

Sule then sought the support and cooperation of Poland in the area of agriculture and assured of it mutual support and cooperation to work and strengthen the already existing ties between them.

Earlier, the Polish Ambassador to Nigeria, Joanna Tamawska, said she was in Nasarawa State, in a bid to further strengthen the ties between her country and Nasarawa State.

Tamawska added that both herself and officials of the Polish embassy in Abuja, will Mbps
always work tirelessly, to develop the ties existing between Nasarawa State and Poland.

She however noted that the relationship should be two-way, an exchange of experience, knowledge, and know-how, between Poland and Nasarawa State.

” I’m looking forward to academic exchange and for our scientists to come to Nasarawa State University, Keffi, and for your scientists to go to Poland,” she said.

The Polish Ambassador explained that there are many avenues for cooperation between her country and Nasarawa State.
