US removes visa reciprocity fees for Nigeria

The United States of America has announced the removal of all reciprocity fees for the non-immigrant visa categories for Nigerians.

According to a release signed by the Public Affairs Section, United States Diplomatic Mission to Nigeria, Abuja, the removal took effect from December 2, 2020.

With this development, there are no reciprocity fees remaining on any visa class for Nigerian nationals.

The release further noted that all non-immigrant visa applicants are still required to pay the $160 non-refundable MRV fee at the time of application. However, reciprocity fees paid prior to December 3, 2020 are not refundable.

Explaining the reason for the removal, the US authority in Abuja said it was in response to the Nigerian government’s removal of additional fees on US citizens applying for Nigerian visas.
