Enakhe, New Africa Magic series shot in Edo, set to premiere on DSTV

In furtherance of the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led government’s drive to boost Edo State’s creative industry, a new television series, Enakhe, shot in Edo State with 90 percent indigenous act, is set to premiere on DSTV showcase from September 28.

The project is a product of the Edo Creative Hub, a space created by the Obaseki-led administration to streamline engagements with the state’s booming creative industry. The hub had organised a meet-up with stakeholders in the industry, who had asked for more robust and constructive engagement to boost the state’s status in the industry.

Ukinebo Dare, executive director, Edo State Skills Development Agency (EdoJobs), told journalists that Africa Magic’s new series, Enakhe, was actually shot in Edo with a cast and crew that is approximately 90 percent indigenous.

“This project is being supported by EdoJobs and is introducing creative talent in Edo to the world as well as telling the world that Edo is poised to host first-class productions,” she said.

Dare said the showrunner, Victor Aghahowa, is an Edo son who was one of those hosted by Godwin Obaseki, the Edo State governor, on International Youth Day in 2018.

“The interaction was held with various illustrious sons and daughters of Edo in Nigeria’s creative industry. His Excellency’s message to them was one of encouragement to join hands in building the new Edo and take the state to its pride of place in the world, something they were all passionate about,” she said.
The primetime series will premiere on Africa Magic Showcase on September 28, along with another new show.
