UK opens partnership to new countries

British cabinet office minister, Francis Maude, weekend disclosed that the British government had admitted eight new countries into its Open Government Partnership (OGP).

Maude said this in a statement signed by British High Commission’s press officer, Rob Fitzpatrick, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

He identified the new countries to include Argentina, Costa Rica, Finland, Hungary, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago, Ghana and Liberia.

The minister said there would be a meeting with the new entrants in London on ways of fighting corruption and the need to encourage growth in their countries.

“At the OGP Ministerial Steering Committee meeting, government and civil society representatives will discuss a new strategy for delivering the commitments in national action plans.
