Sokefun resumes in Abuja as NDIC boss

Ronke Sokefun, Ogun State Commissioner of Urban and Physical Planning has resigned from Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s cabinet and resumed at the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) in Abuja as Chairman of its Board.

Recall that former legal secretary of Oando Group was recently cleared and confirmed by the Nigeria Senate as the Chairman of the Board of Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) in company of other five members of the Board, including Festus Keyamo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

She was appointed Chairman, Board of Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), having served in various capacities under Ibikunle Amosun’s government – Director General, Bureau of Lands and Survey; the Commissioner for Agriculture and lately, the Commissioner for Urban and Physical Planning between 2011 and 2019 in Ogun state.

Similarly, other five members of Governor Amosun’s cabinet resigned their appointments to contest various elective political posts.

Starting from Adepeju Adebajo, former Managing Director of Lafarge Africa PLC thag served in the cabinet as the Commissioner for Agriculture who was later picked as running mate of Adekunle Akinlade, the governorship candidate of Allied People’s Movement (APM) in the state.

Others are Adeleke Adewolu, Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs; Kolawole Lawal, Commissioner for Forestry and Biyi Ismail, Director General, Bureau of Lands and Survey). The trio are to go for House Representatives elections on the platform of APM in Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency, Egbado South/Ipokia Federal Constituency and Ijebu Central Federal Constituency, respectively.

Adedayo Adeneye, Commissioner for Information and Strategy and Modupe Mujota, Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology are both seeking election into the State House of Assembly, to represent Odogbolu State Constituency and Abeokuta North State Constituency, respectively.
Speaking at a valedictory session during the state 54th Executive Council meeting, held at the Governor’s office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta on Monday, Governor Ibikunle Amosun thanked them for their selfless services to the state as well as their support to his administration.
He said their contributions were significant to the achievements of his administration’s Mission to Rebuild Ogun State, wishing them success in their future endeavours.

BusinessDay reports that the Deputy Governor, Yetunde Onanuga, Secretary to the State Government, Taiwo Adeoluwa and the Head of Service, Lanre Bisiriyu, also commended the former appointees’ immense services to the state.
