FRSC commissions Dangote truck driving school

A new driving academy for truck drivers, Dangote Articulated Truck Driving School has been commissioned in Kano, in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Dangote Cement Transport and the FRSC, on how to work together to ensure that the school is a success, according to a statement by the company.

The Academy was commissioned by Boboye Oyeyemi, Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), who described it as a significant and distinctive step. “The new Academy for truck drivers is a significant step forward that will benefit not only the Dangote Group but Nigeria as a whole,” Oyeyemi stated.

Aliko Dangote, president and chief executive of the Dangote Group, was commended by Oyeyemi for his significant contribution to the decline in truck accidents through the recently inaugurated school. He also stated that the school will be crucial to the nation’s efforts to make roads safer.

“I have observed that Dangote has done a lot to address truck crashes and I must commend them for this,” he said. Juan Carlos Rincon, national director, logistics, Dangote Cement Transport section, also stated that the new school is an expression of the company’s determination to bring to a halt the incidents of auto crash in the country.

Speaking as well, Idris Bugaje, executive secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), who was represented by S.M. Yusuf, said that the NBTE will collaborate with Dangote Cement Plc to ensure the new school’s successful certification and launch.
