Major global Internet outage keeps websites offline

How NiRA’s plans to boost adoption of .ng and digital economy

The online services of many companies around the world are being affected due to a major Internet outage.

Fastly, a cloud computing services provider is reportedly the cause of the problem.

The US-based company has confirmed it has found the issue and working to repair it, and by around 11.50 am BST, a number of services appear to have been restored, but loading times are slow, with access seemingly intermittent

As a result of the outage, the websites of global platforms like CNN, Verge, Amazon, the New York Times, and Financial Times were offline as at the time of filing this report.

In Nigeria, local branches of banks like GTbank said they were experiencing downtime. It is not confirmed whether it is also as a result of the global outage.
