NGCC, firm partner to host Nigeria’s manufacturers at Europe’s tech exhibition

The Nigerian German Chamber of Commerce (NGCC) says it is working with VDW (German Machine Tool Builders’ Association) to provide Nigerian manufacturers with exposure to innovative tech through EMO Hannover 2023, the biggest trade fair in Europe for production technology.

The event taking place from September 18- 23, 2023 in Hannover, Germany will showcase the latest technological, strategic and organisational trends in international production.

There will be exhibitors from different countries manufacturing production technology, all presenting a complete overview of the latest technology offerings, according to the Chamber.

“Manufacturing is the future for Nigeria. There is so much the country needs and so much to grow towards self-sufficiency,” Marilyn Rapu, director-general at NBCC, said.

She said the exhibition is an opportunity for the Nigerian manufacturers to engage and network to find out what is new in the industry.

“It will also help them to know the challenges, opportunities and the future for manufacturing in the country,” she said.

Oyebola Adisa, managing director at Pioneer Nigeria Limited added that the international fair is very encouraging and that it is what manufacturers in the country need.

“Most of our machineries in the market are very substandard in terms of quality which is affecting our operations,” she said.

She said if manufacturers are able to get proper access to the right machines, they will be willing to pay for them, no matter how expensive it is since they are getting the right quality products.

According to Aderemi Saka, chief financial officer at Nascon Allied Industries, technology can solve the challenges in the manufacturing sector and unlock opportunities for manufacturers.

“Technology plays a critical and exponential role in ensuring products are produced effectively and efficiently. And a lot of companies are very focussed in looking at the types of technology advancements that are available to them,” she said.

She added that automation, robotics, artificial intelligence and machine learning are examples that companies can use to harness technology potentials and pave the way for the future.
