The new vessel, which waper cents built by Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) shipyard in Okpo, South Korea, was named after the late Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller (who passed away in April 2012) by Ane Mærsk Mc-Kinney Uggla, the youngest daughter of Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller.

The Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller along with the other 19 Triple-E vessels is the largest ship in the world today. “The vessel will set new standards in the container industry, not just for the size but also for the energy efficiency and environmental performance.
“With unique design features for slower speeds and maximum efficiency, the vessel will emit 50 percent less CO2 per container moved than the current average on the Asia-Europe route.
