Funke Amobi – Deputy Head, Operations, Stanbic IBTC Bank

Funke Amobi is the Deputy Head, Operations at Stanbic IBTC Bank.

She was recently appointed an honorary professorial Fellow in the Lancaster University Management School UK.

She is a globally recognised human resources professional and multiple award winner recognised among the 100 most influential HR persons globally by Times Ascent India.

In 2019, Funke was declared the ‘All Africa Employee Engagement Professional of the Year’ by N2Growth Africa headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa and was named among ‘Nigeria’s #50 Top Corporate Women’ recognised for bringing distinct value to the workplace by Leading Ladies Africa in the same year.

In 2020, she was named one of ‘Africa’s Thought Leaders in HR by iPerformance Africa.’ Funke was a global finalist of the ‘Professional Achievement Award’ in the ‘2015 UK Alumni Education Awards’ and was also awarded the ‘2015 HR Leader Award’ in Nigeria by the HR People Magazine.

With over 25 years’ experience across oil & gas, banking and telecommunications sectors, Funke holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Lagos Nigeria, an MBA obtained from Lancaster University UK where she graduated with a distinction and was awarded the dean’s prize.

She also possesses specialist post graduate certifications in ‘Organisational Development and the Psychology of Change’ as well as ‘Talent & Career Management.’

Funke currently serves as the Regional Head for People & Culture Nigeria and West Africa for Standard Bank Group, with the responsibility for shaping the people and culture strategy across six countries.

She oversees the delivery of the country people agenda for Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc as Country Head, People & Culture.

She is a member of the Dean’s Council/Advisory Board of Lancaster University Management School UK (LUMS) and Pan Atlantic University (LBS) Nigeria.

Funke is a non-executive director of Stanbic IBTC Asset Management Ltd and she also sits on the boards of several not-for-profit organisations including WISCAR (Women in Successful Careers).

She is a much sought-after speaker nationally and internationally on human resources and management issues who is deeply passionate about women empowerment, youth employability and enabling career professionals thrive. Her recently published book, ‘Marital Harmony’ is empowering couples and intending couples across countries.

As former General Manager, Organisation and Talent Management at MTN Nigeria, she oversaw liaisons with MTN Group on end-to-end talent management processes and facilitated relevant development planning and implementation for talent within the 21 operations countries.

She is the Chairperson, TREM Career Academy, an arm of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM) headquarter church based in Lagos, Nigeria. Funke has served as the Chairperson of the Academy since its inception in 2014.
