Ayaba Ayo-Joseph – Non-Executive Director, FiberOne Broadband

Ayaba Ayo-Joseph is an ex-banker who has served in a variety of senior executive management positions. A Board level professional and transformational leader, whose 26 year banking career gave her the opportunity to deliver strategic change using her entrepreneurial, leadership, administrative organisational and problem resolution skills.

Ayo-Joseph was appointed an executive director of Bank PHB by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and was part of the management team that ensured the bank remained a going concern, paving the way for its eventual bridging, recapitalisation and sale. Whilst there, she was the ED Commercial Banking and a Board member of seven non-banking subsidiaries of the bank.

She was responsible for the overall performance of commercial banking business of the bank nationwide by articulating its return to market strategy and developing a new business structure to focus on areas of critical mass. Furthermore, she drove business growth by identifying opportunities to enhance the Bank’s market share, grow risk assets, reduce dependence on the public sector business and drive fee based products and services.

Ayaba is a highly adaptable, service driven and diligent individual, with a track record of achieving and exceeding objectives and, ensuring regulatory compliance.

She is passionate about developing people and companies and is currently a consultant specialising in process reengineering and private wealth management. She uses her corporate management, commercial and leadership experience to provide direction, positively develop, impact and transform organisations wanting to grow or transform in a strategic manner, thereby enabling them to become profitable and sustainable entities.

Ayo-Joseph is a coach, resource person for capacity building and change management training and, was a member of the WIMBOARD Institute Training Committee (a WIMBIZ initiative to train potential female Directors) in 2021. She runs a “Family Office” where, she offers total solutions to managing the investments, property and trusts that make up a family’s wealth.

With a keen interest in social and community issues, Ayaba is the Chairperson, the Ebola Containment Trust Fund (a private sector initiative to complement and support the Nigerian government’s efforts in combating the Ebola pandemic when it occurred in Nigeria), member, Lagos City Council Advisory Committee, Rebuild Lagos Trust Fund and member, Apapa Local Government Residential Development Committee.

Ayaba is a Lawyer and holds an LLB from Buckingham University, a PGD Shipping Law from University College, London, a French Language Diploma from Faculte Libre, Lille, France and a Certificate in Design Thinking from MIT.

She is a respected member of a number of professional associations including the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Chartered Institute of Management and the Nigerian Bar Association.
