Messi’s 600th goal enough as Barcelona sink Atletico Madrid

In a pulsating top of the table LaLiga clash, FC Barcelona edged arch rivals Atletico Madrid in a narrow 1-0 victory, at the Nou Camp, to go 8 points clear at the top of the table, with that man Lionel Messi again proving the difference between the two sides.

The first half got off to a frenetic start as both teams showed no atom of holding back right from the first whistle. Messi wriggled his way into a shooting position before testing Jan Oblak in the 20th minute.

With Barcelona having majority of the possession, it was only a matter of time till they got their goal, and who else but the magnificent Lionel Messi to put them infront with an absolutely outstanding free-kick for his 600th goal for club & country.

Chances were far and between for Atletico Madrid as Barcelona dominated from start to end. Luis Suarez & Philippe Coutinho were both in scintillating form, testing Jan Oblak on a number of occassions.

The Blaugrana go 8 points clear at the summit of the table, edging closer and closer to reclaiming the LaLiga trophy.
