Officials of the Oyo State Ministry of Public Works and Transportation, on Monday, pulled down the three-bedroom bungalow allegedly used as a hideout by kidnappers involved in the abduction of Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her twin sons.

The officials, accompanied by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force demolished the structure, a three room located in the Lako Community along the Aiyegun-Anaye Road area of Ibadan,

Several residents of the area watched as heavy equipment demolished the structure on Monday morning in which security personnel take positions.

The building was identified by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) and the Oyo State Police Command during a coordinated intelligence-led operation.

Police investigations through intelligence gathering, surveillance operations had revealed that the victims were held at the property after being abducted on June 3, 2026 while the mother was taking the children to school in Ibadan.

During a raid on the facility on June 6, Police operatives rescued the victims unharmed, killed two suspected kidnappers and arrested several members and collaborators of the criminal syndicate while firearms, ammunition, charms, face masks and the vehicle allegedly used in carrying out the abduction were recovered.

The demolition of the building is seen as part of the State Government’s efforts to discourage criminal activities and dismantle infrastructure linked to kidnapping and other violent crimes.

Abimbola Olugbenga, the Oyo State Commissioner of Police accompanied by top Police officers of the Command and journalists had on Sunday visited the scene as part of ongoing efforts to tackle kidnapping and other criminal activities in the State.

Addressing residents during the inspection, the Commissioner urged members of the public to remain vigilant and security-conscious, stressing the importance of promptly reporting suspicious movements, unusual activities, unfamiliar persons, and other security concerns within their communities.

The CP however urged hospitals, healthcare providers, traditional bone setters and members of the public to report anyone seeking treatment for suspicious gunshot wounds or engaging in suspicious activities.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Police Command in the State in sustaining the fight against kidnapping and other criminal activities across the country, assuring Nigerians that efforts to protect lives and property would remain unwavering.
