Thribeka International Hotel has moved to align its operations with the institution of the palace in Asaba, as part of efforts to connect visitors with the culture of the host community.
The move followed a courtesy visit on 18 February 2026 by the Chairman, Amb. Valentine Chukwuma, his wife who serves as managing director, and members of the management team to the Palace of HRM Asagba Prof. Epiphany Chibogu Azinge.
During the visit, the monarch received the delegation and spoke on the place of culture in business within the community. He said growth in hospitality should reflect the values and history of the people. The engagement focused on how the hotel can work with the palace to ensure guests encounter the life and customs of Asaba during their stay.
The Chairman said the visit was to seek the palace’s guidance and support as the hotel deepens its presence in the city. According to him, “Thribeka International Hotel is not just a place to stay; it is a doorway into the soul of Asaba. We are bringing the world to our doorstep, and we want the world to experience our culture, our warmth, and our heritage.” He added that respect for elders and tradition remains central to the brand’s outlook.
The monarch announced that Chief Victor Nwosa, who oversees hospitality matters for the palace, will visit the hotel to review its facilities and discuss areas of cooperation. The planned visit is expected to guide how guests can take part in festivals, rites and community events in ways that respect local practice.
Thribeka International Hotel opened on 15 June 2025 and has since recorded steady patronage from travellers and organisations hosting meetings in Asaba. Management linked this outcome to acceptance by the host community and to engagement with traditional leaders.
The LUXURY hospitality brand will soon flag off the THRIBEKA CEEP (Cultural Education & Exchange Program) a strategic tourism partnership initiative to boost the art, culture and the creative economy space in Nigeria.
At the palace, prayers were offered for the hotel and its team. The Chairman referred to the phrase “Honour thy father and thy mother” as a reminder that businesses must acknowledge the land and its custodians. He said the hotel would continue to work with the palace to promote culture through hospitality and to present Asaba to visitors from across the world.
